• Project 2025, Epstein Files, National Guard

In the style of Dr. Heather Cox Richardson, whose daily “Letters from an American”, is a free, well-researched and -cited document detailing the flood of news coming from the present administration in Washington D.C, our local historian shares his views on the news of the month and sounds the alarm to citizens to respond to the rot or watch their democracy die. Dr. Crawford points to the National Guard being called to patrol Washington D.C. and Chicago based on false reports of violence, the use of the FBI and IRS codes by the administration being used to harass perceived enemies who are then fired or forced out of their positions, among dozens of other insults.

Born into a blue collar and agricultural clan in rural Pennsylvania, Dr. Jim Crawford was the first in his family to graduate from college. Earning his PhD from the University of North Carolina, he taught US and World History at several universities in the piedmont North Carolina for several decades. He served as chairman of the Chatham County board of commissioners, and currently serves as trustee for Central Carolina Community College. He is a firm believer in American democracy and trusts that the constitution will hold firm now as it has in past crises despite the broken, distempered electorate.
