C.L.A.W.S.: Second Chances for Wildlife

Aired on August 2, 2026
• Wildlife Rescue, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Animal Habitats
According to their website, CLAWS started in 2004 when it was clear “that there were so many animals out there that simply had no place to go and we could help them and make a difference. Everybody involved has many years of experience with both exotic and wild animals, from bear to tigers to squirrels and raccoons.” Their beliefs are that “…those animals that are born in the wild and can still care for themselves in the wild should be placed back into their natural habitat where they can live their lives wild and free, however, those born captive, lacking the instincts, and at times, not being from this environment, to care for themselves in the wild should be helped…” Listen in and hear from our guests:

Kindra and Kenny Mammone of CLAWS, Inc. have dedicated their lives to wildlife. With more than 30 years of rehabilitation experience, Kindra has worked with native and exotic species, taught wildlife rehabilitation, contributed to USDA guidance, and is licensed in North Carolina to rehabilitate small mammals, all native birds, and white-tailed deer fawns. Since 1991, Vinny has worked alongside Kindra in wildlife rehabilitation, helping care for countless animals while designing and building the enclosures and habitats that make CLAWS, Inc.‘s lifesaving work possible. Together, they are committed to giving wildlife a second chance and inspiring others to care about the natural world.
