    ONLINE BRIEFS - JUNE, 2013

Holland Brothers Duo next up at the Bynum General Store

The Holland brothers -- twin brothers who play the blues -- will perform Friday Night June 7 as part of the the Bynum Front Porch Friday Night Music Series (www.bynumfrontporch.org) The General Store is located at 950 Bynum Road, Bynum

When twin brothers Mark and Michael Holland ended their long-time rock act Jennyanykind in 2012, they set their sights on a stripped-down blues act that could showcase their original songwriting and different solo styles. Mark, who sounds like John Lee Hooker vocally and other Delta/country acts, and Mike, who, with a smooth jug band twang, didn't want to give-up their lucrative solo acts. But each twin still wanted to work with the other. The result: they paired their disparate acts into a new duo called the Holland Brothers, and recorded a record, Dueling Devils. Released on their own label, Euramerican Soul, half of the record is devoted to Mike's style and sound and the other half Mark's.( www.facebook.com/HollandBros)

The Friday Night Music Series runs from May through the end of August from 7 to 9 p.m. every Friday night. Although tickets aren’t required, we pass the hat and encourage a $5 to $7 donation to compensate the performers. Barney’s Famous Hot Dogs & Snacks and Little Dippers Italian Ice will be on site to provide cool drinks and tasty treats. Shows go on rain or shine now that we also have a new indoor stage.
